Retry Correct Incorrect Abraham Lincoln saved five copies of his speech, all with slight variations. He gave copies to his secretaries, friends, and even his fellow speaker, Edward Everett. To make matters even more confusing, journalists had to write down his oration as he was saying it. Historians now have several versions of the Gettysburg Address, and no one knows which copy is the “true” one.
