The Sopranos aired from 1999-2007, but the episodes are timeless. The series won many awards for its depiction of crime boss Tony Soprano and his struggle to balance his personal life and running North Jersey's Mafia, the Dimeo Family. Although it did not directly correlate to any real-life Mafia families and stories, creator David Chase says the series is partly inspired by two New Jersey Mafia Families: the Richard Boiardo Family and the DeCavalcante Family, but one thing is for sure-- the characters of the show are larger than life!
