Although Julia Sweeney didn’t find herself becoming a household name, she nonetheless attracted some attention in the early ’90s for her androgynous character, Pat. Although the character proved popular enough to inspire their own movie, that popularity was short-lived, and the movie is one of Saturday Night Live‘s most infamous failures. Sweeney now regrets creating Pat in the wake of long-time criticism from the LGBTQ+ community.
